
Bruce C. Schmidt joined Howd, Lavieri & Finch, LLP in 1973 and extended his practice in 2001 by opening a second office at 446 Main Street in Monroe, Connecticut. His practice is concentrated in the areas of estate planning and settlement. As such, it consists of the review and structuring of property ownership and the preparing of wills, trusts, powers of attorney and health care directives, in order to provide for the disposition and tax effective planning of decedents’ estates. A former bank and trust officer, Mr. Schmidt was educated at the Darrow School, Ohio Wesleyan University (B.A.), the University of Connecticut and University of Miami Law School (Juris Doctor). He is a member of the Estates and Trusts Section of the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association and former Chairman of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Legal Problems of the Elderly Committee.
Mr. Schmidt has lectured for the Connecticut Bar Association, the University of Connecticut School of Law, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the University of Hartford Graduate Tax Program, and Post College, where he was formerly an adjunct professor. He now lives in New Hartford with his wife, Sandra Deschaines Schmidt.
